Sunset River

Client

The assignment was given by Communication and Multimedia Design, where I followed the creative course: project Visual. It was about learning to improve your visual and creative skills.

With class we went to Museum Van de Geest in Amsterdam, it is a museum where people with mental issues showcase their art.

Project

One of the first assignments during the course was about making an art piece and implementing inspiration from the museum and your own passion. I took inspiration from one of the works who was made with embroidery in the canvas. I found that pretty fascinating and wanted to implement it in my own work.

I also took inspiration from music and to be more specific LP covers. I noticed that a lot of older covers have a lot of blue and red in them and the contrast really sparked my creativity. Scroll down to see my inspiration and the finished result. 🙂

The final product: the art piece. I did some embroidery in the title and the buttons. Further did I implement the colors blue and red. I found the contrast working really well. Scroll down to learn about the whole creative process.

The images above show the inspiration I took from LP’s I have at home. The art piece of the museum and inspiration I found online.

The images above show all the tests I did with composition, color, typography and trying to thread through paper with a needle and string.
